Team Accolades
UMass reached its fifth consecutive NCAA College Cup in the 1987 season after reaching the national semifinals in the four years prior. The Minutewomen defeated UConn 3-1 and Central Florida 2-1 to advance to the national championship game. UMass fell to North Carolina 1-0 in the title game at McGuirk Alumni Stadium. Head coach Ken Banda along with Debbie Belkin and Kristen Bowsher were all eventually inducted into the UMass Athletics Hall of Fame.
